Magazine Proposal plan –
The masthead of my publication will be named, BLACK HEART the reason for naming the masthead black heart is because it reflects on the genre of the publication, it also sounds edgy and rock like and gives a mysterious and distraught atmosphere. The publication is a mixture of 2 words but combined. The word black detonates darkness, emptiness and desolation, and the word heart, suggests life, energy and vitality. The words combined gives a binary oppositional contrast between the two words within the masthead, as if it’s a heart of darkness
Contents page –
In my content page, I’m going to include a wide range of both featured and regular sectors which provide information on the double page spread, as well as this the magazine will have its own section called Black blood, as it related to the contents magazine content page. The magazine contents page, will contain an alternative rock band called “Demonic felines”or "Demonic Cats" (My cover stars band name). What will make the magazine stand out is that it would have a collage of images, of the featured rock band, a section of features displayed on the contents page, a font style which is the same as the masthead.
Masthead –
The masthead is going to be called “Black Heart” as mentioned above, the masthead resembles the genre and reflects upon it, as “alternative rock” is stereotyped, to have a menacing title which tends to be edgy and slightly rough, this also stereotypes the audience itself, as it gives the audience to be seen as “rebellious”, The stereotype is used to emphasise the genre in a neutral way as it is neither positive nor negative.
Cover stars –
The cover stars of my magazine, are 3 females, the reason being this, is because there aren’t many females supported in the rock genre, yet there is a lot of female rockers in society, my cover star is a band and will consist of 3 members, all have piercings to promote the genre, as it is stereotyped. I am also going to make sure they wear clothing relating to the rock genre, and have props which make the
Genre - The genre of my publication is a mixture of JRock (Japanese rock) and alternative rock, I did this because I wanted to have a more diverese and larger audience, as rock music is already mainstream, I wanted to mix it up with a bit of Japanese rock, to give the target audience a different taste in music and also to meet the target audiences needs

I will have to think of how to use these different programmes, However, I will be choosing Prezzi, to do my proposal presentation because it is clear to understand and as well as this it is appealing towards the audience.

Music magazine stand
Magazine magazine stand
I went to WHSmith to take a photograph of a magazine stand, I visited other stores, such as Tesco and ASDA but they didn't have any music magazine. I chose WHSmith as they had a variety of music magazines which are main stream and niche.
I went to WHSmith to take a photograph of a magazine stand. This is the magazine stand I took in WHSmith as you can see they are all music magazines. However, I noticed that the only genre of music in this magazine stand are all rock or alternative rock, there is no other genres to be seen within the image. The organisation of the magazines have been aligned all facing towards the audience showing the front cover, every front cover can be seen as the masthead, is shown on all the magazine which makes it readable, also the colours of the mast head are very vibrant as well as dark which contrasts and makes it easier to spot while looking at the magazine front covers in the stand. The magazine covers are organised to overlap other magazines which shows the magazine but covers a small portion of the magazine, it is all visible.
In this stand, the duplicate of magazines are behind each other, for example in this image, there are 3 issues of the Kerrang magazine, and the duplicates are in the background of the first magazine, this shows the audience that there are more magazines of the same kind available. In a majority of the magazine front covers, the rock genre is more dominated by the male gender in comparison to the female gender, as there is only 1 woman on a front cover in the magazine stand and all the other rock or alternative rock genre magazine have only males on the front cover.
There is a lot of bold cover lines and strap lines, on the magazines on the magazine stand, this makes it easier for the target audience to read, as they'll get a hint of what could be discovered within the magazine. There are also strap lines, which tell the audience that there is a lot of freebies in the magazine for instance the MOJO magazine in the image, has a strap line which says "Free Cd" this automatically engages the audiences eye, which directly shows that there is a free cd in the magazine.
The magazine layout and organisation have been laid out to show the cover star, as cover stars are the main focal points on a magazine front cover, which also gives an idea of what
the genre of magazine would be about, some magazine also display other artists and bands on the front cover in a smaller segment on the page, to reach out to their audience by interest which entices the audience in to wanting to know what could be inside the magazine. By also having a visible layout, the audience can detect the house style of magazines, as some magazines always use the same house style which makes it easy to spot, for instance Kerrang. Kerrang always has an house style of black, red and yellow if the target audience were to see the magazine from a distance they would easily spot it, and recognise the magazine.

Magazine distribution planning
Magazine distribution planning
In class we were preparing for task 5 - which is distribution
This is the plan for distribution of music magazines and a magazine newsstand. In this plan it shows a variety of features, and different sources of distribution, which include institutions, social media and other ways on how different institutions distribute there publications, or how they socially appeal to their audience to give them information about upcoming magazines, ezines, apps or information in general. I also have to go out and a take a picture of an actual new stand which shows music magazines, to see how they're positioned and how they're distributed or organised and research on different platforms of the publication.
